Millikin University's English Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English to teach Secondary English Language Arts courses in our nationally accredited, vibrant English Education program, beginning August 15, 2017. Teaching responsibilities (12 hours per semester) include
 

Adolescent literature
English language
Methods in the teaching of English language arts
Methods of teaching literacy in the content areas
Supervision of student teaching
First-year writing courses

 

Other duties include
 

Coordinating assessment of the program
Working with Millikin University's Teacher Education program
Administration of the English Education program
Ensuring that all students meet ISBE licensure requirements

 

Ideal applicants will have a minimum of three years teaching experience at the secondary/middle-school level and a Ph.D. in English Education or a closely related field. A clear record of teaching excellence is required.
