Responsibilities
• Supervise the distribution and delivery of media equipment
• Customer satisfaction of telephone services
• Evaluate needs for telephone upgrades and services
• Troubleshoot problems and maintain the existing data and phone connections as needed.
• Evaluate the need for outsourcing phone repairs
• Coordinate any repair work or upgrades performed on the phone switch through an outside source
• Maintain inventory of parts and cards to maintain the phone switch
• purchase all supplies needed for telephone services
• Maintain a work order database for phone, cable television and network-related problems
• Verify and pay all statements and bills incurred by Information Technology from the appropriate accounts
• Enter monthly Media department charge backs for deposit
• Provide training to students in Media Services
• Facilitate campus addresses changes for HR in connection with phone moves
• Troubleshoot reasons for return mail and correct, when possible, return mail addresses for future use
• Load updated postal information into the system from the USPS
• Attend conferences, workshops, seminars etc. as required by the supervisor
• Assist supervisor with daily tasks as assigned
Education and Training
• After installation of phone switch in 1985, was trained on the software for programming and installation of phones
• Completed Basic PBX Administration classes through Consolidated Communications
• Completed classes on Meridian Mail in order to support the voice mail system
Professional Experience
• Received 25-year service plaque from Millikin University in 2005
• Has been at Millikin University for over 32 years
• Department name has changed over the years, beginning with the Computer Center, and job assignments have been modified to meet the need of the University
