What to consider before you get to Millikin:
• Your accounts will be created after Human Resources has received all of the required employment documents. They will also supply you with your Millikin ID #, which is required to access your accounts.
• You may bring your personal computer and mobile devices to campus. Instructions for connecting your devices to our wireless network and syncing your email are available in the Technology Q & A for New Employees
• If you have special technology needs for your classes, please contact Information Technology in advance of the start of the semester so we have ample time to prepare the classroom to fit your needs.
• Millikin uses Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac. (Available to employees at a discount from www.scholarbuys.com
The following checklist contains some things you will want to consider before arriving on campus.
Install virus protection (Microsoft free anti-virus solution download page)
Turn on antivirus automatic updates
Install spyware protection
Turn on Windows or Mac automatic updates
Bring a surge suppressor strip for your personal devices.
Other items to consider:
Millikin provides computers for employees to use. If you have special requests, please let IT know in advance of your arrival.
Employees are provided a phone number and voicemail. For instructions on using voicemail, please see this page.
Employees are provided 250MB of storage space on the network (NetStorage in myMILLIKIN). Please save your work-related documents and files in this area so we can ensure the information is protected.
Millikin University uses Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac. This product is available with an educational discount from VaristyBuys. Go to www.varsitybuys.com, select Institution Type: College/University, select State/Province: Illinois, press Go and select Millikin University from the list.
Note: Millikin University prohibits the use of wireless routers or access points in residence halls and campus buildings where Millikin has provisioned wireless connections.
