Barbara began her academic career as technical director, resident designer, and instructor at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas and has held the position of Assistant Professor at both the University of Tennessee at Martin and Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky before coming to Millikin.
Barbara has been involved in education for various age levels. Under the auspices of a two-year grant from the national Endowment for the Arts (NEA), she was the co-director of a mobile project that produced theatre in small school systems with no arts programs. As a part of this venture she worked with creative dramatics for elementary and special education students, puppetry for middle school classes, and full-scale play productions for high schools. In addition to various theatres in the United States her work has been seen in Italy, the Dominican Republic and South Africa.
