Millikin welcomes newest cohort of Long-Vanderburg Scholars

Millikin University welcomed its newest cohort of Long-Vanderburg (LV) scholars to campus for a five-day leadership academy July 19-23. During the academy, 16 scholars from various parts of the country worked together on projects that enhanced their academic and personal growth.

Korinne Frankford, a senior at Millikin University, is looking forward to the day when she'll become a pharmacist. Frankford is a chemistry major from Alton, Ill., and her previous experiences of job-shadowing pharmacists in hospital and retail settings has confirmed her passion for wanting to attend pharmacy school.

Millikin named Top Private College for Creative Arts Scholarships

Millikin University has been ranked by Student Loan Report as one of the Top 250 Private Colleges that Offer the Most Creative Arts Scholarship Money.

Hundreds of private schools were analyzed in the new study and were evaluated based solely on the amount of creative arts scholarship aid awarded. Millikin was ranked 27th.

Student awarded Millikin scholarship for Project SEED research

The American Chemical Society's (ACS) Project SEED summer research program, the Decatur-Springfield local ACS section, and Millikin University have provided funding the last few years for local high school students to engage in chemistry research opportunities on Millikin's campus.

Millikin University and Broadway Dreams partner to offer full tuition scholarship

Millikin University is proud to announce a partnership with Broadway Dreams, a premiere performing arts education nonprofit organization. In celebration of the partnership, Millikin will be awarding a full-tuition theatre scholarship to a deserving student who has participated in Broadway Dreams summer programs, workshops and residencies.

Tabor student recognized for leadership, passion for marketing

Millikin University student Jocelyn Hernandez, a senior marketing major with a minor in finance from Des Plaines, Ill., was recognized by the Tabor School of Business for demonstrating leadership and a passion for marketing as she was presented with The Rick Bibb Scholarship on Sept. 19.

Emerging Leaders

The newest cohort of first-year Long-Vanderburg (LV) Scholars at Millikin University recently took part in a five-day leadership academy that focused on academics, leadership and commitment to social justice and service.

The leadership academy, held July 27-31, is named for the first two African-American graduates of Millikin University, Fred Long (1918) and Marian Vanderburg McCants (1934).

Hickory Point Bank to fund Annual Student Scholarship at Millikin University

Hickory Point Bank has established a new $5,000 annual scholarship at Millikin University to aid students who have demonstrated a financial need, and whose hometown addresses fall within regions served by the bank, including areas in Decatur, Springfield, Peoria and Champaign, Ill.
