Science Entrepreneurship Speaker Series focuses on job creation

The Millikin University Institute for Science Entrepreneurship (ISE), a signature program of Millikin's Center for Entrepreneurship, is pleased to announce its speaker series for the fall 2017 semester. This fall, all presentations will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the new University Commons on Millikin's campus. Presentations are free and open to the public, and no tickets or reservations are required.

Learning a Technique

Korinne Frankford, a senior at Millikin University, is looking forward to the day when she'll become a pharmacist. Frankford is a chemistry major from Alton, Ill., and her previous experiences of job-shadowing pharmacists in hospital and retail settings has confirmed her passion for wanting to attend pharmacy school.

Chemistry students learn food science at Millikin

Millikin University hosted its annual Chemistry Camp for high school students June 5-9. Students engaged in hands-on research and prepared scholarship-ready science projects as part of the camp. This year's theme was food science as the students participated in lab and kitchen research on the Millikin campus.

Millikin Agile team, Dennis students create unique dog toy

Innovation Generation, a project-based learning group at Dennis Lab School, teamed up with Millikin University, and Mechanical Engineer Matt Nickols, to create the Puppy Puzzler, a unique dog toy that the students hope to have on shelves by 2018.

Millikin Wire: Kate Gebultowicz '17

Millikin University student Kate Gebultowicz is a senior chemistry major with an emphasis in research and pre-pharmacy.

The Glenview, Ill., native has spent the past year working on her senior research which focuses on solid phase peptide synthesis. As part of her research Gebultowicz uses three amino acids to form a peptide. She tests the peptide to see if can penetrate a cancer cell.

Student awarded Millikin scholarship for Project SEED research

The American Chemical Society's (ACS) Project SEED summer research program, the Decatur-Springfield local ACS section, and Millikin University have provided funding the last few years for local high school students to engage in chemistry research opportunities on Millikin's campus.

Biology student earns Best Poster Award at Sigma Zeta National Convention

Members of Millikin University's Pi chapter of Sigma Zeta attended the 2017 Sigma Zeta National Chapter Convention at Marian University in Indianapolis, Ind., March 23-25. Close to 170 students and faculty attended the convention.

Sigma Zeta is a national honor society for undergraduate students majoring in the natural sciences, computer sciences, or mathematics.
