One of the best ways to get involved at Millikin is to engage as a paraprofessional.
A paraprofessional is an individual who is trained by a professional in order to provide guidance and support to their peers.
First Year Experience Mentor
Mentors are instrumental in assisting first year students make personal adjustments to campus and academic life during the summer and throughout the entire first year at Millikin. They participate in Orientation and Registration, First Week, seminar course, service learning, and various campus activities throughout the year.
UNITY Social Justice Advocate
Unity Social Justice Advocates serve as peer advisors, role models, educators, and resource persons around issues of social identity and social justice. The also perform Understanding our Community during First Week.
Resident Assistants serve in the traditional and Living-Learning residential communities. Each residential floor has at least 1 Resident Assistant and will provide floor programs, meetings, and support each student while they are at Millikin University.
EDGE Mentors are sophomore, juniors, and senior students who desire to help new EDGE students transition to the university. Housed in the Office of Student Success, these students are a key component to the success of the EDGE program.
Peer Mentors are new for 2015! Reporting to the Office of Student Success, Peer Mentors will assist first year students with advising, academic concerns, and navigating college level classes.
