The second annual Students at Millikin Academic Summer Holiday (SMASH) Camp is being held on campus June 3 – July 12. A collaboration between MU and Decatur Public Schools, the gifted camp for current and future middle school students features campers working with local companies and organizations to make new products, create value-added services, generate awareness around a critical topic and produce an artistic piece for new audiences. Campers pick one career sector – food science, energy, visual arts or media – to concentrate on during camp.

Millikin’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program will host a Preview Night Thursday, June 20, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 212 of ADM-Scovill Hall. Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming MBA class, which starts next January. The 17-month program will meet two nights per week and offers executive lecture series speakers and a two-week international business trip.

2013 Homecoming Logo

The theme for this year’s Homecoming is “Bleed Blue,” and we know many of you do! Set for Oct. 4-6, this year’s celebration promises a great chance to renew old friendships and remember your days at MU. Reunion packets will be mailed late this month to alums whose class years end in 3 or 8, as well as to other groups celebrating reunions. Also, a brochure detailing homecoming activities will be sent to all alumni later this summer. In the meantime, here are a few highlights:

  • Several alumni will be recognized on Friday, Oct. 4, at a dinner honoring Alumni Award recipients and Athletic Hall of Fame (AHOF) inductees. Find out who’s being honored.
  • Plan now to attend the retirement open house in honor of Dr. Jan Devore, the long-time director of alumni relations who also served as dean of students. Set for 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Alumni and Development Center, the open house will feature complimentary refreshments, a cash bar and classic memories of the one-and-only Jan.
  • Also, in recognition of her 35 years of service to MU, we thought it would be great to shower Jan with new Facebook friends! She already has more than 1900, but 2000 seems a nice, round number, don’t you think? So next time you’re on Facebook, why not “friend” Jan and help us get her to the 2000 mark?
