Two alumni speak at commencement ceremonies.

Julie Roe Lach '97, vice president of enforcement for the NCAA, will be the speaker at the commencement ceremony held Sunday, May 20, at the Decatur Civic Center. Case McGee '98/MBA '04, vice president of human resources for North America and Global Compensation at Archer Daniels Midland Co., will speak at the PACE/MBA commencement ceremony, Saturday, May 19, at Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

MU celebrates students next week.

Millikin's annual showcase of outstanding student research and creativity, the Celebrations of Scholarship, will begin Thursday, April 26, at 7 p.m. with Honors Convocation in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center. Presentations and focus panels will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday and continue throughout the day. Free and open to the public.

"Flags of Our Fathers" author speaks on campus.

James Bradley, author of the best-selling historical nonfiction books, "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Flyboys," will speak at Kirkland Fine Arts Center tonight at 7:30 p.m. Released as a major motion picture in 2007, "Flags of Our Fathers" tells the story of the six soldiers who raised the American flag on Iwo Jima, one of whom was Bradley's father, John Bradley.

Founder’s Day celebration planned for April 29.

Millikin alumni and friends are invited to a celebration of the university's founding at a free Founder's Day picnic at the James Millikin Homestead on Sunday, April 29, from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Join students, faculty, staff and alums for a free lunch, entertainment provided by the Millikin Men, tours of the homestead and the traditional wreath-laying ceremony. The Homestead, once home to James and Anna Millikin, is located at 125 North Pine, just a few blocks east of campus.

Hollis Prize recipient to perform Chicago recital.

Aaron Villarreal, a junior percussionist from Decatur and winner of Millikin's 10th annual Hollis Prize Competition held on campus will perform a recital on Friday, April 20, at 12:15 p.m. at Chicago's Harold Washington Library, located at 400 S. State St.

Help honor the Bibber’s legacy.

Several alumni are leading the charge to establish an endowed scholarship in honor of Rick Bibb, retiring professor of marketing. The Rick Bibb Scholarship will be awarded annually to a junior or senior Tabor School of Business student with a 3.0 GPA who demonstrates leadership, a passion for marketing and an interest in international study while at Millikin. The goal is to fully endow the scholarship by raising at least $10,000.
