About the Program

This year's program has the theme "Innovation in Italia" and four courses will be offered to satisfy IN350 and ICS courses over three weeks in Urbania, Italy! Immerse yourself in an authentic Italian experience while working towards your Millikin degree.

WHO: Millikin students of any discipline or interest
Students attending other institutions interested in earning credits toward their degree should contact the coordinators.

WHAT: This year's courses are:

  • IN350 - Italy: Myths, Stereotypes, and Reality

WHEN: June 10 – July 1, 2018  (departure from U.S. on June 9)

WHERE: Urbania, Italy: Located in the Le Marche region just inland from the Adriatic coast of Central Italy. You will also visit many other cities including: Rome, Florence, Urbino and many more.

COSTS:

$5,495 covers the following expenses

  1. Travel and Culture Package
  2. Lodging
  3. Airfare & ground transportation while in Italy
  4. Tuition (3 credit hours)
  5. Planned group meals

Additional lab fees for the Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship course: TBD

$1,250 personal expenses (estimated - not part of the contract)

 

The Summer Program in Urbania, Italy is a completely unique experience because it is:

Multidisciplinary - You will work alongside peers from other disciplines in an international setting.

Comprehensive – While in Italy, you will take classes in Italian language and culture. Urbania is the perfect setting to fully immerse yourself in a safe and vibrant foreign environment. Excursions to other cities in Italy provide a well rounded perspective of Italian life and culture.

Flexible - The Program offers you the possibility of taking more than one course at a time.  Additional tuition fees are not included in the contract, but contact either Julie or Carrie if you are interested in taking more than one course.

Alumni & Friends

Millikin's Alumni & Development office will also be offering a 2-week trip including a tour of Modena's Food Valley June 10-24, 2018.  This is not available for current students, but is a lovely opportunity for graduates and friends to have an amazing cultural experience in Italy.  For more information, contact Mandi Podeschi (apodeschi@millikin.edu).

About Urbania

Urbania is a picturesque town situated between the Adriatic Sea and Tuscany in the Le Marche region of Italy. The town is historically know as a center of art and culture. Urbania is a modern and ancient town where everyone can feel at ease. There are supermarkets and shops of all kinds; gyms, bars, restaurants, cafes, and pizzerias. There are concerts, shows, exhibitions and entertainment of every type, especially in the summer, during the "Urbania Summer Program.
