The Interdepartmental Major is designed for students who are interested in a variety of disciplines and don't want to choose just one as a major. Students in this major are exposed to a broad course of study in the traditional liberal arts and sciences, which fosters skills such as:

  • Conceptual analysis
  • Critical thinking
  • Disciplined writing
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Ethical and moral reasoning
  • Strong leadership

Because individualized majors and minors require more time to organize than traditional majors or minors, interested students should be advised to begin their preparation as early as possible. Students may apply at any time until the first semester of their senior year. Previously approved interdepartmental program majors and minors are available at the website; students will find these helpful in planning their own programs.
