Credit & Financial Information 

College students may receive credit for the language, university studies and music components of the program by paying summer school tuition through Millikin University.  Additional college credits may be applied to individual Millikin plans of study or transferred to other universities.

 

Millikin 2012 immersion/summer school tuition is $1092.00 for 3 one-credit courses in music.  All music students must enroll for 3 credits of music. Credits taken beyond the minimum 3 credits will cost an extra $364 per credit hour.  Non-music classes are optional and offered as 3 credit classes. Additional courses are offered through Millikin's Summer Program in Urbania.


Bella Musica – Urbania 2012

Pianists and Instrumentalists division

What is included:
- Direct airport transfer from Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport to Urbania on Sunday, May 27

- Welcome dinner at a local restaurant on Monday, May 28

- Italian language course: 1 full hour per day, Monday through Friday. 20 hours total

- Housing in double room occupancy in a shared apartment with other students (4 weeks)

- 3 half day excursions (Urbino on May 30, Gubbio on June 6 and Gradara & Gabicce on June 13)

- 1 full day excursion (Siena on Sunday, June 3)
- Capstone trip to Rome on June 23 and 24 (transportation from Urbania to Rome, double room hotel occupancy, bus transfer from hotel to Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport)

- Museum pass in Urbania (Ducal Palace, Chiesa dei Morti and Museo Diocesano entrances)

- 4 performances (3 individual Bella Musica in house performances, 1 shared performance in Teatro Bramante with Italian Futurism, Who am I in Italia, American Roots Songwriting (ARS) and Italian Futurism, Fascism, and Early 20th Century Electro Acoustic Music)

Travel & Cultural Package: $2,925

PRIVATE STUDIO APARTMENT SUPPLEMENT FEE: EURO $366 (4 weeks). Limited number available

Notes:
- The conversational Italian language course teaching material will be provided. An entry level assessment test will determine class formations

- All apartments are fully equipped (sheets and towels provided) and within walking distance to the school and educational facilities.

- Excursions: a Centro Studi Italiani representative will chaperone each excursion. A general introduction and assistance will be given during each trip. Individual on site exploration.

- Gradara and Gabicce excursion: the Gradara castle entrance ticket is included.

- Capstone Rome trip: the hotel is located in the city center. Individual on site exploration.


Vocalists Division

What is included:
- Direct airport transfer from Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport to Urbania on Sunday, May 27

- Italian language course: 3 full hours per day, Monday through Friday. 4 conversation hours per week (2 on Tuesday and 2 on Thursday afternoon) and 2 hours of review session on Saturday morning. 21 weekly hours, 84 total.

- 1 half an hour per week of individual vocal coaching, 2 hours total.

- Housing in double room occupancy in a shared apartment with other students (4 weeks)

- 3 half day excursions (Urbino on May 30, Gubbio on June 6 and Gradara & Gabicce on June 13)

- 1 full day excursion (Siena on Sunday, June 3)

- Capstone trip to Rome on June 23 and 24 (transportation from Urbania to Rome, double room hotel occupancy, bus transfer from hotel to Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport)

(The Credit in Escrow option is available to high school seniors who wish to earn college credit that will be held by Millikin for use at Millikin or other accepting higher education institution. The student must be in the upper third of her/his high school class and must be recommended by their high school principal or counselor.)

 

 

 

Important Deadlines


Application due:                             February 10, 2012

 

$500 non-refundable deposit due:           March 15, 2012

 

Balance of tuition/fee payment due:  April 16, 2012




Scholarship aid:  The International Fellows Program offers scholarships for study abroad.  Scholarships are need-based and highly competitive.  Application deadline for summer immersions is February 15. Applications are available in the Center for International Education, RTUC, Room 121.  Stafford loans may also be applied toward immersion courses.
