Chelsie Batko
I am honored to have received the Margaret Burkhardt Johnson Modern Language Excellence Award this past academic year for my performance in furthering my understanding of the Spanish language and culture. At this university the foreign language professors have not only taught me the art of speaking Spanish but also the history of different Spanish speaking countries and their customs. Also, the foreign language department has provided me with the opportunity to study abroad and practice my skills in Spain. I am honored to have received this award but I am even more grateful for the knowledge that I have gained from the university and its professors.
Christin Egli

Receiving the Modern Languages Linguistic Excellence Award surprised me, but I felt extremely privileged as my name was called at Honors Convocation. This notable award humbled me because I am aware that I am still striving to reach fluency in Spanish. My love for the language gives this award personal significance because it recognizes that my persistence in expanding my Spanish has been productive. With the approbation of the Modern Languages department, I am re-energized to increase my knowledge of the Spanish Language within and outside of the classroom, and for that I am exceedingly grateful
